Web Standards

Compatible and Accessible

The term web standards can mean different things to different people and is often simply thought of as a "table-less website" or a website with "valid code". In truth, web standards are much broader than that.

A website built to web standards should adhere to standards including HTML, XML and CSS and pursue best practices (valid code, semantic markup, responsive design and more). At Mercury all websites and applications are built to web standards, particularly World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standards.

The Industry Standard

  • Ensure your website looks right in all browsers
  • Increase the speed of your website
  • More easily maintain your web pages
  • Improve search engine placement
  • Make your site mobile browser-friendly
  • Future-proof your content by separating styling from text and graphics
